Poet and performer Anne-James Chaton explores the past and present of American society, delving into the sources of its most prosaic myths and events. Rereading Charles Reznikoff’s Testimony, he derives an alternative history of the United States from it, a litany of raw news stories, without frills or affect, punctuated by songs of a more colourful style. The poet’s voice is superimposed on that of New Yorker Jace Clayton, aka DJ/rupture, the riffs of Andy Moor, guitarist of the eternally young Dutch band The Ex, and images by filmmaker Josh Begley.
