Frédéric Sonntag / creation
How does one go about portraying a man who has spent his life concealing himself? The writer B. Traven was author and director Frédéric Sonntag’s inspiration for this show about identity. In the form of a jigsaw puzzle.
An American journalist with an adventurous soul, a persecuted screenwriter and a boxer poet: these twentieth-century figures converge on a country, Mexico, and on one man’s story. That of the novelist B. Traven. The author of the famous Treasure of the Sierra Madre, which inspired John Huston’s film of the same name, covered up his past and spread rumours until his death in 1969. Eight actors and two musicians bring this labyrinthine investigation to life...
Author and director, Frédéric Sonntag created the AsaNIsiMAsa company when he left CNSAD. He wrote and staged a dozen plays. He is currently working on the creation of the Trilogy Fantôme. From 2017, he is artist in residence at the Nouveau Théâtre de Montreuil for three seasons.
