L’AFFAIRE LA PÉROUSE
ANNE-JAMES CHATON, MANUEL COURSIN / creation
All aboard the La Pop barge for a voyage to distant seas. At the helm, a performer-poet and a sound artist await, ready to elucidate the mystery of the disappearance of French explorer La Pérouse.
For two centuries, people have speculated about the loss of L’Astrolabe and La Boussole, the two ships in the expedition led by Count La Pérouse. Having set sail from Brest in 1785, they sank somewhere in the South Pacific. What event could have caused 220 men to be shipwrecked? An accident, a typhoon or a sea monster attack? The author and performer Anne-James Chaton, supported by the musician and sound artist Manuel Coursin, explores all the hypotheses.
