STILL IN PARADISE

YAN DUYVENDAK & OMAR GHAYATT

As part of Catch eyes, event on otherness.

How do a European and an Egyptian create dialogue over prejudice? Yan Duyvendak and Omar Ghayatt confront their points of view in a participatory show.

One is Dutch and an atheist. The other, Egyptian and a Muslim. They have worked together for ten years and have gone through moments of misunderstanding, even conflict. Drawing on these experiences, Yan Duyvendak and Omar Ghayatt have composed a production made of twelve fragments. Every evening, the public is asked to vote for the sequences they wish to see. Which ones will you choose? This show marks Yan Duyvendak’s return to the Nouveau Théâtre de Montreuil, after Please, Continue (Hamlet) in 2013.
